CM Gift Card 4.0.0 Is Released

CM Gift Card 4.0.0 is a big update. The shop pages are new. Setting up amounts is easier. Every template now comes with a ready made design and a preview button. And developers get a full set of events.

A new look for the shop

Every page your customers see has been rebuilt: the gift card list, the order form, the cart, the checkout, the order page and the "my gift cards" page.

Fixed amounts are much easier to set

Before, you typed all your amounts into one text box, separated by commas. Now you add one row per amount. Each row has its own description, such as "Most popular". Drag the rows to change the order customers see. Your old amounts are moved over for you when you update.

A ready made design for every template

The gift card PDF, the invoice and all six emails now have a Sample button. Click it, copy the HTML, paste it into the editor. You get a good looking design without writing any HTML yourself.

Next to Sample there is a Preview button. It fills the template with example order details and shows you the result. The gift card opens as a PDF. The invoice opens as a web page. Emails are shown the way they will look in an inbox, with the subject line above the message. You no longer need a test order to check a change.

18 events for developers

Plugins can now do their own work when a card is added to the cart, when an order is created or paid, when a card and its code are created, when a card is redeemed, and before emails and PDFs go out. This makes it much easier to connect the component to other systems.

Updating

Update as usual from Joomla's Update screen, or install the new package over the old one. There is nothing to do by hand. Your amounts are moved to the new setting, the database is updated, and files that are no longer needed are removed.

After updating, open one of your templates and try the Sample and Preview buttons. It is the quickest way to see what is new.
